Daza pulled the arrow back. There were there arrows stuck in the target in front of her, all of them hitting the center target. She aimed carefully, wanting to split the one in the very center. She smiled slyly to herself, closed her eyes and let go of the arrow. She listened to the arrow fly through the air, hitting the target with a satisfying -thunk-. She opened her eyes and raced over to the target. It was well past midnight, and most if not all of the camp half blood campers were in bed, so she didn't have to worry about anyone shooting at her by accident. She examined the arrow. It had cleanly sliced through the center target as well as the arrow already pinned there. She grinned wildly. She hadn't been able to make that shot from that distance before.
It had been three years since she'd been shooting arrows at this range. She had been a camp-lifer, meaning that she'd been at the camp her whole life and was probably going to be there for the rest of it, but instead of staying to complete her studies she left the camp in pursuit of the life she'd wanted since she was a little girl. A normal life. Remembering this made her feel an extreme sadness. Her blue eyes stared up at the full moon above her. "Is this where I'm supposed to be?" She asked the moon. It didn't answer. "Helping my people survive the chaos that's happening?" Again no answer. "Because to be honest, I don't know who my people are anymore." She looked across the range, no-one was there. She dropped her longbow and the arrow she'd been examining. "I could try to fit in with the humans!" She yelled. "Ignore my ancestry! Try to forget my powers!" She dropped her voice. "Or I could stay here for the fight of my life." She swayed on the spot. Her arms and head growing heavy. "These are the choices you've given me, Father." She said to the crunching grass beneath her feet. She walked to her belongings and pulled a flask from her coat. A dark ember liquid sloshed around inside.
She sat down beside her jacket and fighting gear. She really didn't know what she was doing here. All she knew was that she had to prepare to fight something coming. The humans didn't realize just how much they were destroying their world. All the chaos and disaster was just the beginning. Some of the gods were helping it along rather than attempt to stop it and Daza didn't know which said to take. She fiddled with the flask in her hands, not having opened it yet. She stared for a little while at it before throwing it back into her bag. This was not the time nor the place to be doing something reckless like that. She stood up and shook her whole body to try and shake off the mood she was in. It had gone from good to bad in less than 3 minutes. She walked to where she had dropped her long bow and turned to walk past the shooting line. She had not been expecting an arrow to come at her face. She lifted her bow and aimed fro the person who shot at her. They would regret their actions in the morning.
